Vintage TOMI Leather Elephant Figurine | 1960s Japanese Design | Mid-Century Modern Leather Animal Sculpture with Glass Eyes | Japan Decor

$24.99

Details

An authentic piece of 1960s Japanese design history. This leather elephant was crafted by Tomi, a maker renowned for infusing personality into mid-century leatherwork. Unlike the more common, rugged safari figurines, Tomi pieces are sought after for their "Mod" charm and whimsical, expressive features.
The Details:
Era: Circa 1960s.
Origin: Expertly crafted in Japan.
Material: Hard-stuffed with a vinyl "leatherette" exterior.
Features: Features the classic small bead eyes and a charming open mouth with a hand-stitched red tongue.
Dimensions: Approximately 3.5" tall and 6" long—the perfect size for a tiered tray or display shelf .
This little fellow has been "well-loved" and shows a beautiful vintage patina. There is some surface cracking and age-related wear to the vinyl exterior, especially the end of his trunk which is common for these 60-year-old pieces. Please review all photos closely, as they are part of the description. f29
